Implement policies and regulations and increase production and improve the quality of food and non-food crops.

The main priorities for crops include the following:

(i) Agriculture as an employment opportunity for young people: unemployment is becoming a burden for the governments of West and Central Africa. Agriculture is a promising sector as it has the capacity to create jobs in its various subsectors. Agriculture can, and must play a leading role in the absorption of unemployed young men and young women; (ii) nutrition and health: often in WCA, pregnant women and children under 5 are malnourished; (iii) sustainable agricultural production that preserves the environment; (iv) development of simple and effective technologies to improve agricultural production and productivity.
