CORAF and ECOWAP
The West African Economic Community (ECOWAS) and the Central African Economic Community (CAEC) have their respect regional agriculture policy frameworks.
In January 2005, the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) adopted a regional agricultural policy commonly known as ECOWAP.
ECOWAP aims to ‘contribute sustainably to satisfying the food needs of the population, to the economic and social development and poverty reduction in member States as well as address inequalities between territories, areas, and countries.

These instruments guide all work related to agriculture in both regions. The commissioners of agriculture drive these policies in both regions.
As the technical arm of these REC’s, CORAF has been assigned part of the implementation of these regional agriculture policies.
