CORAF Supports ISRA to Conduct Gender-Sensitive Research

At the request of the Senegalese Institute of Agricultural Research (ISRA), CORAF has trained gender specialists to integrate gender dimensions in their research activities better.

The two days training held from March 18-20, 2019 in Dakar, Senegal. CORAF’s Regional Adviser on Gender and Social Development facilitated the training.

Gender is central to the 2018-2022 strategic plan of ISRA. By strengthening the capacities of gender focal points, ISRA expects its research institutes to conduct more of gender-sensitive research.

ISRA’s research activities are expected to contribute to achieving food security for the people of Senegal as well as lead to equity and social justice. By conducting such training, ISRA hopes to accomplish these goals.

With the training concluded, ISRA hopes its researchers are better able to carry out the work on the ground to achieve the food security objectives of the population.
