The West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development has currently 22 NARS members from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape-Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra-Leone and Togo. These countries have a total area of over 11.5 million sq kilometres, with a population of over 318 million inhabitants, 70 % of which live on agriculture.
