Forum of the major partners and donors for the appropriation of the Strategic Plan of CARBAP Yaoundé-Cameroon; October 25th 2013

The African Center for Research on Bananas and Plantains (CARBAP) is an international organization specialized in banana and plantain (Musa spp.) research and development. Created in 2001, its headquarters is located at Njombé, Cameroon. In terms of the coordination of research and sub-regional integration, CARBAP has a distinct comparative advantage and constitutes a pole of excellence for research/development and operates through its anchorage to CORAF/WECARD (the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development), and PRASAC/CEMAC (Pôle Régional de Recherche Appliquée au Développement des Systèmes Agricoles d’Afrique Centrale) within the context of regional agricultural policies of the economic communities of West and Central African states.

International Symposium of WAWA

Complex King Fahd Palace (former Meridien President) welcomed the 31 July and 1 August 2013, over 500 women from West Africa and the world to take part in the international conference of the Association of Women of the West Africa (WAWA) on the theme: "Agriculture, food and nutrition security, the contribution of women in West Africa."

West African Agriculture and Climate ChangeThese monographs examines the food security threats facing 11 of the countries that make up West Africa — Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo — and explores how climate change will increase the efforts needed to achieve sustainable food security throughout the region.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of Ghana

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) was created by decree NLC 293 of 10 October, 1968 modified by NLCD 329 of 1969, and restored in its actual form by the CSIR law 521 on 26 November, 1996. However, the origin of the Council goes back up to the National Council of past Researches of Canada (NCRC), which was created by the government in August, 1958 to organise and coordinate scientific research in Ghana. In 1963, the NCRC merged with the ancient Academy of sciences of Ghana, a learned law society. After an examination in 1966, the Academy was reconstructed principally, of its original organ components, meaning a national research organ rebaptised CSIR and a learned society, designated the Ghanaian Academy of arts and sciences.

agricLe projet Renforcement des systèmes semenciers en Afrique de l'Ouest est mis en œuvre au Mali, au Burkina Faso, au Ghana et au Cameroun. Dans la région malienne de Sikassso, le village de Siramana est le site où des essais sont en cours d'exécution sur trois grandes cultures: maïs, sorgho et arachide Les conditions de vie des villageois se sont améliorées avec les résultats du projet.
