In a Country Beset by a Critical Skills Shortage: A Lifeline for Research.
Disclosure of safeguard documents for the second stage of the first set of countries (Ghana, Mali and Senegal) implementing the West Africa Agricultural productivity Programme (WAAPP): In compliance with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Safeguard Policies, the West and Central Africa Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD) in collaboration with relevant authorities of the first set of countries (Ghana, Mali and Senegal) implementing the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAPP) coordinated by CORAF/WECARD, has completed an update of the Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), Pest management Plan (PMP) as well as an initial Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) related to the implementation of the second phase of WAAPP in the respective countries. Subsequently, the updated ESMF and PMP as well as the initial RPF for the three countries are hereby being disclosed in conformity with World Bank policy on disclosure of information.

EVENTS
Technical Launching of WAAPP- Togo. The inception workshop of the West Africa agricultural productivity (PPAAO / WAAPP) - Togo took place on 1st to 3rd February 2012 in Lomé. This workshop was an opportunity to inform all the stakeholders directly and indirectly involved in the implementation of the Programme, on the content, strategy and methods of intervention to facilitate the understanding of Manuals for ownership. The roles and responsibility of different actors have been clarified for efficient implementation of the programme in Togo.
WAAPP- Burkina Faso technical Launching. The technical launching workshop for West Africa agricultural productivity programme (WAAPP), Burkina Faso took place on 10 and 11 January 2012 in Ouagadougou. This workshop was an opportunity to inform and sensitize all stakeholders directly and indirectly involved in the implementation of WAAPP on the content, strategy and methods of the programme intervention to facilitate the implementation of operational activities.
