Environmental and Social Management Framework Plan (ESMFP) and Pest Management Plan (PMP) for Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Senegal
The West and Central Africa Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD) has almost finalised arrangements for the operation of a Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) managed by the World Bank to finance the CORAF/WECARD Medium Term Operational plan. The World Bank is also supporting the West African Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAPP) in which CORAF/WECARD plays a coordination role at the subregional level. The trust Fund is rated as environmental category B, since the components are considered to have relatively limited environmental impact potential. CORAF/WECARD had earlier prepared an Environmental and Social Management Framework Plan (ESMFP) including a mechanism for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for four countries (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Senegal). The ESMFP was accepted by World Bank for the three of these countries participating in the WAAPP. The plans were endorsed by participating countries and disclosed on the CORAF/WECARD web site and in the respective countries. The World bank disclosed the Plans at the Bank’s infoshop on September 14, 2009. These plans are hereby re-disclosed in collaboration with the governments of Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Senegal with regards to activities funded under the MDTF.
