EVENTS
Research priorities on sustainable management of natural ressources in West and Central Africa validated. From 09th to 11th August 2010, in hotel Residence la Falaise of Douala, parteners and stakeholders of CORAF/WECARD validated the research priorities on sustainable management of Natural Ressources in West and Central Africa.
FARA 5th General Assembly: Dr Tiémoko YO, new Chair of FARA. Appointed Vice- Chair of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), Dr Tiémoko YO, Director General of the National Center of Agronomic Research (CNRA) of Cote d’Ivoire is since 2008 a member of the Governing Board of CORAF/WECARD. In his first message to his peers of the African and International Scientific Community, the FARA new Chair invited everybody to work hard for the development of the African Agriculture.
The 9th General Assembly of CORAF/WECARD. Actors and Partners of CORAF/WECARD met from 28 till 29 May 2010 in Cotonou for the 9th session of the General Assembly. The Participants examine the moral report of the Governing Board, the Annual Report of CORAF / WECARD from June 2008 to May 2010, statutory documents and to renewed the members of the Board.

PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES
From 9th to 11th August 2010, Douala: Validation workshop of the research priorities for a sustainable management of natural resources in West and Central Africa.
6th August on 2010, Dakar, Senegal: Promotion day of the program PPAAO / WAAPP with journalists and media specialists.
From 4th to 5th August 2010, Dakar: Validation workshop of the study on the environmental and social management Framework ( PCGES) and the pesticides management plan for Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Benin and Togo within under the PPAAO / WAAPP.
From 2nd to 3rd August, Dakar: Midterm Review of the annual work Plan of CORAF/WECARD.
From July 31st to 8th August, a team of 11 researchers of Ghana visits the coordination of the WAAPP Senegal.

COOPERATION
A mission of the Department for International Development (DFID) of United Kingdom visited was from 5th to 6th August 2010 at CORAF/WECARD Headquarters to take stock of implementation of the Programme for Strengthening Capacity for Agricultural Research and Development in Africa (SCARDA).
CORAF/WECARD actors and partners, during a workshop, identified research projects included Livestock / Crops for the semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas of West and Central Africa, under the Partnership CORAF/WECARD- CSIRO of Australia. It was from 15th to 16th July 2010 in Dakar.

TRAINING
Capacity Strenghening: Regional training of researchers and technicians from ECOWAS countries in Biotechnology and Biosafety. From 15th July to 13th August , 2010, 20 researchers and technicians from 10 countries of ECOWAS (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Cape Verde, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Niger, Mali, Senegal and Togo) have been trained to the use of modern agricultural biotechnology and Biosafety tools. It was in Abidjan.
