2nd Science Week Themes
The West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD), in collaboration with its partners, is holding the Second West and Central Scientific Agricultural Week on the following main theme : ” Management of post-harvest systems for the improvement of productivity and competitiveness of agricultural Markets in West and Central Africa ”.
4 parallel sessions on the subthemes connected with the management of post-harvest systems will be held. These parallel sessions will be followed by discussions in plenary. The 4 subthemes chosen in connection with the 4 results of CORAF/WECARD Operational Plan will be introduced by the lead presenters that will open the debate in panel sessions aimed at facilitating the understanding of the main theme. The retained subthemes will be the following ones :
- Innovation systems for the improvement of agricultural products’ processing, packaging and labelling.
- Political options and a favourable institutional environment for the improvement of agricultural products’ processing and marketing.
- Strengthening the partnership between the key stakeholders (producers, processors, scientists, NGOs) for the promotion of collective actions aimed at facilitating post-harvest constraints’ reduction.
- Effective use of knowledge of post-harvest practices.
