ITRAD’s New Director Co-Opted to CORAF Governing Board

The new Director-General of the Chadian Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (ITRAD) has been co-opted to join the CORAF Governing Board.

Yassine Doudoua was appointed on April 24, 2020, by the President of Chad, Idriss Deby Itno, to lead ITRAD, the principal agricultural research agency of this central African country.

Mr. Doudoua takes over from Omar Chaib Hassanty, who moves to the Chadian Ministry of Production, Irrigation, and Agricultural Equipment as Director-General.

“I would like to warmly congratulate Mr. Yassine Doudoua on his appointment as Director-General of ITRAD. We are delighted to have him in the Governing Board of CORAF,” said Dr. Maria Angela P. Bareto Da Veiga Moreno, CORAF’s Governing Board Chair.

“The challenges facing agricultural research in Chad are similar to those faced by most of our constituents in the Sahel. Together, we can leverage the immense opportunities to catalyze the proven innovations and unleash our agricultural industry’s potential.”

Gratitude for Services Rendered to CORAF 

Mr. Omar Chaib Hassanty had represented Chad in the Governing Board of CORAF since August 2018 in keeping to article 12 of the statutes of CORAF.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Omar Chaib Hassanty for all the services rendered to the CORAF Community,” says Dr. Abdou Tenkouano, CORAF’s Executive Director.

“I would like to wish him success in his new role as Director-General in the Ministry of Production, Irrigation and Agricultural Equipment of Chad.”

The new ITRAD Head is an agro-economist with experience in agricultural development, agricultural policies, and markets, management of rural areas, and monitoring and evaluation of rural development programs.
